Mission’s JV investment owns a biodiesel refinery which has a name plate capacity of 250,000 tonnes per year. Biodiesel is an environmentally friendly alternative to diesel fuel, the world’s largest transportation fuel. The world is moving to biodiesel supported by international green legislation.
In an effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to combat global warming, governments around the world have mandated the use of Biodiesel.
When blended into diesel produced from petroleum, biodiesel can be used in most diesel engines today, and it is safer than pure petroleum-based biodiesel to store, handle, transport and use. It produces approximately 80% less carbon dioxide than pure petroleum-based biodiesel, and almost 100% less sulfur dioxide. Unlike pure petroleum-based biodiesel, it’s both non-toxic and biodegradable. When used as an additive in ultra-low-sulfur diesel, it improves lubricity.
